Lime Double Knit Tunic Top

Made from Stretch Double Knit this tunic top is fabulous to wear!

I dropped the neckline in the front and eliminated the keyhole opening at the back for a true pull-over top.

I added gathered turquoise georgette to the neckline, sleeves, hem and high-waist seam.

It's a fun and flirty version of the layers pattern.

Zuni Stamped Long Vest

The Layers Vest was made from sueded rayon. It was stamped with Zuni primitive stamps.
I used Silver, Bronze, Copper and Black ink to do the variegated detail. The closure was done with Maori Fern buttons.

Faux Block Printing

The Layers Dress was made from Basil Green sueded rayon.
It was stamped with solid birch leaf stamp using Mask-It™ to create the faux block print. Buttons from JJ Handworks.

Layers Under the Sea

For this outfit, I used Turquoise Cotton Twill for the long Layers vest.

It was stamped first with "Salmon", "Carp", "Flounder" and "Coi" using Textile Paints (which are better for 100% cotton fabrics)
and then embroidered with "seagrass" using Viking's Designer 1. Closed with Jane's own "Spiral" buttons.

The coordinating outfit underneath is Layers Tunic Top and Pants in Blue Lagoon batik rayon.

Jane is very petite, at 4'11" she makes adjustments to her patterns through the armscye (to reduce the armhole depth) and overall length.

The Incomparable Rita Farro!

Rita's humor and unflagging energy are contagious! She likes bright happy colors as evidenced in her Layers Vest.

For a total boost to your self-esteem (not to mention a great stress reliever since you'll be laughing after every chapter),
and great tips for sewing for the "gifted" woman order a copy of her book "Life Is Not a Dress Size".

Lee Anne's Layers Short Vest & Dress

I love the play between the two fabrics in this short vest. Using the same fabric from the dress it was paired with a complimentary piece to accent and top the dress. Covered buttons make a stylish closure.

Lee Anne's Layers Long Vest & Tunic

What gorgeous fabric to work with! All over the long vest I did the Confetti Stitch with Sulky Rayon in shades to match the fabric. I left the "tails" of the rayon as an added texture (see detail photo). Jewel toned Dimension buttons act as the perfect closure.

Red Leather Embossed Vest

If you've taken the plunge and embossed velvet, you have to try in now on leather! Even if it's something small, a bag or this short vest, it's stunning! The same technique is used, without spritzing with water. Dry iron, 30 seconds, and VOILA!

I used the natural raw edges from the skin to create the 'hemline' of my fronts. On the back I made a 'notch' for interest! Now, I'm just waiting on some embossed Fimo buttons. Stamp used: Maple Leaf.

Alaska Dyeworks Layers Dress

For this sample of Layers, I used hand dyed rayon and cottons from Alaska Dyeworks. Victoria's hand dyed rayon was used for the skirt, sleeves and neck binding. I pieced the bodice with a packet of her mottle dyed cottons in 2" square blocks.

Chinese Newspaper

The Layers Dress was made from Deep Purple sueded rayon. It was stamped first with "Chinese Newspaper" in black then "Japanese Fan 2" in shimmer gold. The short reversible vest from cotton fabric. Buttons from JJ Handworks.
