Fabric Requirements - listed in yards.

  • Medium to Heavyweight fabrics: Denim - Twill - Heavyweight Cottons - Etc.
  • Your fabric needs to be a DARK color if you are going to do the Resist & Release technique. ie; black, navy, dk purple, etc.
  • 100% cotton usually works best, but I've had luck with blends too.
  • Try a printed denim, this can make a very unusual dyed coat!
   

Notions

  • Buttons: Optional
  • Interfacing: 1-1/2 yards
  • Shoulder Pads: 3/4" Raglan or Drop Shoulder
    This coat is such a basic shape (great for creative design) that it needs shoulder pads to support it on the body, and have it hang properly. I use a 1" tear drop shaped shoulder pad, choose one that feels right for you!

Resist & Release Dyeing:

Complete instructions and supply list are inside this pattern. You will be using generic, grocery store type materials, no need to traipse all over the countryside for obscure artsy stuff!
